Shields

Shields is a type of defensive ship component that absorbs beam weapon damage to a ship or fleet. When a ship with a positive Unrecognized icon name Shield Strength is hit by a Unrecognized icon name Beam weapon attack, the damage is subtracted from the Unrecognized icon name Shield Strength, instead of the Unrecognized icon name Hit Points, at a rate of 50%. If the attacking ship has the Unrecognized icon name Shield Punch augment, the attack ignores the 50% damage reduction and subtracts all of the damage from the Unrecognized icon name Shield Strength.
